The Hinchingbrooke Bosendorfer Piano Concerts 2024 - 2025. Welcome to the eighteenth series of concerts at the PAC | Performing Arts Centre, Hinchingbrooke School, Huntingdon. We are again hosting internationally acclaimed artists using the superb Bosendorfer concert grand piano, donated to the school by old pupils in memory of former music director Kenneth Brown.

This concert explores the beauty of nature through music. Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture evokes the wild seascapes of Scotland, capturing the awe and mystery of the Hebrides islands. Dvořák’s Cello Concerto is rich with lyricism, inspired by the composer’s love for the natural landscapes of America. Brahms’s Symphony No. 2 rounds off the program, a work filled with warmth and pastoral serenity, often referred to as his “sunny symphony,” reflecting the calm and beauty of the natural world.

This festive concert brings together a lively mix of classical and festive favourites. Mozart’s sparkling Marriage of Figaro Overture sets a joyful tone, while Prokofiev’s Troika captures the wintry spirit with its sleigh-ride theme. Berlioz’s gentle Shepherds’ Farewell and Rimsky-Korsakov’s enchanting The Snow Maiden evoke the magic of the season. Alongside these, traditional carols and Christmas classics are not to be missed! Children will also enjoy a special tour of the orchestra, making this a celebration for all ages!
