Mark is the author of ‘The Haunted History of Huntingdonshire’ and his talk will focus on some of Huntingdonshire’s most iconic buildings that are reputed to be haunted. Famous visitors and famous former owners will also be revealed. With the aid of a slide show\, Mark plans to take you inside these iconic buildings and share their secrets with you. \nAfter a short interlude\, Mark will then take guests on a walking tour of Hinchingbrooke House. This will include rooms that are not normally available to the general public. Based on a theme from Niccolò Paganini’s Violin Caprice No. 24\, Rachmaninov takes the simple melody and weaves an intricate tapestry of 24 variations\, each displaying his exceptional skill at the piano and melodic inventiveness. \nPietro Mascagni: Cavalleria Rusticana (Intermezzo) \nMascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” Intermezzo paints a vivid picture of the Sicilian countryside\, transporting listeners and has become a beloved concert piece in its own right\, frequently performed as a standalone work by orchestras worldwide. \nEdward Elgar: Enigma Variations \nElgar’s “Enigma Variations” is a mesmerizing and innovative orchestral work\, composed in 1899. Consisting of a theme and fourteen variations\, the piece is a heartfelt tribute to Elgar’s friends and acquaintances\, each variation representing a musical portrait of a specific individual.

DESCRIPTION:The Hinchingbrooke Bosendorfer Piano Concerts 2023 – 2024Welcome to the seventeenth series of concerts at the PAC | Performing Arts Centre\, Hinchingbrooke School\, Huntingdon.\nWe are again hosting internationally acclaimed artists using the superb Bosendorfer concert grand piano\, donated to the school by old pupils in memory of former music director Kenneth Brown. \nFriday January 26th 2024: Katya Apekisheva\nTrained at the fabled Knessin Music School in Moscow and prizewinner in the Leeds international competition\, Katya has become one of Europe’s foremost pianists. She is greatly in demand for solo and ensemble work and has performed concerto soloist with some of the world’s leading orchestras. \nHer programme will include music by Schubert and Liszt.

DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the seventeenth series of concerts at the PAC | Performing Arts Centre\, Hinchingbrooke School\, Huntingdon.\nWe are again hosting internationally acclaimed artists using the superb Bosendorfer concert grand piano\, donated to the school by old pupils in memory of former music director Kenneth Brown.Friday November 24th 2023: Rob Burton saxophone with Richard Zhang piano\nRob Burton:\nHinchingbrooke alumni Rob Burton\, who After winning the woodwind section of the BBC Young Musician of the year in 2018\, undertook further studies in Switzerland. Since then his performing career has expanded enormously with highly successful concerts in the UK and internationally.\nRichard Zhang:\nRichard has recently completed a full musical and general education at the world renowned Menuhin School in Surrey and is at present enjoying a specially created extra year at the school in order to establish his career. Inspired by the vibrant colors and rhythms of Spanish folk music\, the piece captures the essence of Spanish culture with flair and virtuosity. \nJean Sibelius: Symphony No. 5\nSibelius’ Symphony No. 5 in E-flat major is a striking and evocative masterpiece\, completed in 1915. Each child disappearing throughout the journey due to the consequences of their negative traits\, and forever changed.\nThe moral of this story is karmic.\nWill Slugworth get the secret recipe?\nWill Augustus gloop be stuck in the pipe forever\,\nand is Veruca Salt really a bad nut?\nThink good thoughts\, say nice things and do good for others.\nEverything comes back. \nThis is a bespoke ballet choreographed for the\nCambridgeshire Youth Ballet Company by artistic director\nand Royal Ballet trained dancer\, Saskia Lockey. \nThe Company features children from all over Cambridgeshire and including Bedfordshire!
