PAC | Performing Arts Centre Hinchingbrooke School, Huntingdon, United KingdomThe Hinchingbrooke Bosendorfer Piano Concerts 2023 - 2024Welcome to the seventeenth series of concerts at the PAC | Performing Arts Centre, Hinchingbrooke School, Huntingdon. We are again hosting internationally acclaimed artists using the superb Bosendorfer concert grand piano, donated to the school by old pupils in memory of former music director Kenneth Brown. Friday January 26th 2024: Katya Apekisheva Trained at the fabled Knessin Music School in Moscow and prizewinner in the Leeds international competition, Katya has become one of Europe's foremost pianists. She is greatly in demand for solo and ensemble work and has performed concerto soloist with some of the world's leading orchestras. Her programme will include music by Schubert and Liszt.

In 1930s New York City, an orphan named Annie lives a “hard-knock life” at an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie dreams of being reunited with her parents and escapes the orphanage to try and find them. Annie discovers a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy. But Miss Hannigan, alongside fellow baddies Rooster and Lily, hatches an evil plot to manipulate Annie and Oliver Warbucks. Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award winning musical, Annie JR. delivers the classic story that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Doors open 6pm, Show Starts 7pm

This overture encapsulates the tragic tale of love, fate, and revenge. Sergei Rachmaninov: Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini Rachmaninov’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” is a virtuosic and captivating work for piano and orchestra. Based on a theme from Niccolò Paganini’s Violin Caprice No. 24, Rachmaninov takes the simple melody and weaves an intricate tapestry of 24 variations, each displaying his exceptional skill at the piano and melodic inventiveness. Pietro Mascagni: Cavalleria Rusticana (Intermezzo) Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” Intermezzo paints a vivid picture of the Sicilian countryside, transporting listeners and has become a beloved concert piece in its own right, frequently performed as a standalone work by orchestras worldwide. Edward Elgar: Enigma Variations Elgar’s “Enigma Variations” is a mesmerizing and innovative orchestral work, composed in 1899. Consisting of a theme and fourteen variations, the piece is a heartfelt tribute to Elgar’s friends and acquaintances, each variation representing a musical portrait of a specific individual.
